Alejandro Chal is an up-and-coming DJ/Producer set on making 2012 the year of his ascension. Chal enticed us this past year with a range of remixes and mashups featuring the likes of Drake, Kanye West, and Radiohead. Chal’s sporadic social media presence left us clinging to each and every update, trying to figure out this prospective gamechanger’s future plans. The underground producer has also been busy working as a music director for fashion labels such as Ralph Lauren and Nicole Farhi, further testaments to the quality of his craft.
We finally get a taste of A. Chal’s singular talent with “Roses on Your Silhouette,” the first release from his new project. The single sees Chal’s sharpened musical and visual skills on full display. He masterfully combines several genres and sounds without compromising the spirit of each persuasion. The single carries a deep throbbing bass, an A. Chal mainstay, alongside dub and hip-hop impulses laced over woozy vocals. The single is dark and hazy, mirroring the accompanying visuals of a nefarious young man shrouded in chiaroscuro lighting and eager to test his moral compass.
