Das Racist – Michael Jackson by Transdreamer
After releasing two well-received mixtapes, Das Racist are going all out with a third album that’s available to purchase. What a thought. “Michael Jackson”, the first single off of Relax, is produced by Patrick Wimbley (AKA Chairlift) who delivers a sped up chorus loop that sounds like the intro to a retro Bollywood brawl. In an interview with BlackBook Magazine, the trio revealed that Relax would include some R&B numbers and “…a pop direction but there’s still some playfulness like there used to be.” This single is a great exemplar of DR’s continued taste for joke rhymes and name-dropping. The much anticipated album will include collaborations with likes of Diplo, El-P, Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend, Anand Wilder of Yeasayer, and Bikram Singh, a New York based bhangra artist. Relax drops September 13th via Himanshu Suri’s very own label, Greedhead Music.
